WAKA, Studio for Art, Education, Research and Society

Guy Woueté & Aude Christel Mgba in conversation

In this talk, Guy Woueté and Aude Christel Mgba will discuss their ongoing work around Studio for Art, Education, Research and Society in Penja, Cameroon. WAKA offers the opportunity to experience the pluriversality of the world by focusing on the question of work and education. From the margins and in relation to the declining world, this project aims to strengthen, through artistic research and experimentation, the islands of resistance and resilience of these who by their presence are disrupting the Plantationocene. WAKA is a research on the notion of work and education. By initiating this workspace and residency in Cameroon, the wish is to open up horizons for other narratives for future generations. WAKA enriches and diversifies, but also continues the legacy of artist initiatives in Cameroon and Africa. It has the particularity of being a pluriversal workspace, located at the margin of the center and the periphery. It’s the artisan of decolonized narratives where everyone is welcome.
