The Vetex is a rather undisciplined brass band, formed when musicians from Kortrijk, Tournai and Lille teamed up for the cross-border project PassePartout in 2004. Vetex has since played at parties and festivals in Belgium, France, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands. Their compositions are collected on Le Beau Bazar and Flamoek Fantasy, where the songs la Valse du Dentiste or Licht aub are the surprising standouts. Influences? Of course, the Vetex fanfare draws quite a bit of mustard from the Balkans, but Sicily, Paris, Buenos Aires, Beveren-Leie or Colombia are just as much at the basis of their hyperkinetic festivity.
