Spoorloos is a 1988 Dutch-French thriller directed by George Sluizer. The film is based on the novel Het gouden ei by Tim Krabbé. The story follows Rex Hofman and his girlfriend Saskia Wagter who are on holiday in France. During a stop at a petrol station, Saskia disappears without a trace.

Rex becomes obsessed with her disappearance and begins a years-long search for the truth. Eventually, he comes into contact with Raymond Lemorne, a seemingly normal man who turns out to be responsible for Saskia’s disappearance. To find out the truth, Rex must undergo the same terrifying experience as Saskia.

Known for its haunting atmosphere and unexpected twists, the film is considered one of the scariest Dutch thrillers ever.
