Antonia Brown

Antonia Brown (b. Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) is an artist based between Cape Town and Brussels. Her practice develops through sculpture, writing and film. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and a MFA in Fine Arts from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam. Brown has participated in various art residencies including Fondazione Ratti, Como in 2016, Cite International des Arts, Paris in 2018 and Morpho, Antwerp in 2023. In 2013 she was the recipient of the Martienssen Prize where she exhibited on Again, and then again, as well, too, curated by Gabi Ngcobo and Donna Kukama at the Wits Art Museum, Johannesburg. Her more recent exhibitions include Rama da sasa say so and, Fitzpatrick Gallery, Paris in 2022 curated by Maya Vidgrain; Tournure, Lucas Hirsch, Dusseldorlf in 2023; Radical Shapeshifters, Kunsthal Mechelen, 2023 curated by Zeynep Kubat and Vibrant Natures, Castello di Rivoli, Turin in 2024 curated by Guido Santandrea and Marianna Vecellio.
