All ProgrammeStraatherrie / Aalst Onderstroom
John Butcher / Charles Gayle as Streets The Clown / Staalplaat Soundsystem / David Watson / Pauline Oliveros’ Tuning Meditation
With the event, StraatHerrie (literally translated ‘Street noise’), extremes come in contact: experimental music frees itself through a confrontation with the street.
The program: John Butcher’s minimalist feedback and saxophone experiments; legendary freejazz musician Charles Gayle as Streets the Clown; and psychedelic bag pipe droner David Watson; the minimal choral composition, Tuning Meditation, by Pauline oliveros, Staalplaat Soundsystem and more…
The festival is especially the ideal moment to propose Aalst Onderstroom. This project is an alternative city map with themed walking tours in collaboration with Aalst Literary Society, the Family union, the Cultural Heritage Society, department of tourism and the youth of Aalst. Throughout the program, interventions of several local organisations will take place.
The festival starts on the courtyard of the Town Hall at 14:00. Last concert starts at 17:30 at the Werfplein.
