WAKA is an art studio located in the municipality of Njombé-Penja in Cameroon. This artistic venture operates organically, like a living organism that sets a body in motion. It brings artists together around the question of work and education. The goal is to create the conditions to understand and transform our own lives through the realities that influence them. The artistic aspect is used as a space to comprehend our existence and to question our future.  The municipality of Njombé-Penja, much like Aalst, is a vibrant place full of life. It is a small global city with stories to tell: Stories of ordinary people and small gestures that daily care for life here and elsewhere. Stories from precolonial and colonial Cameroon to independence. Stories of the development of globalized capitalism with its monoculture system that has made us into large sick bodies, dependent on the artificial respiration imposed by today’s plantations.
